Generally speaking, the term Italian Roast is associated with a darker roast. However, this is not the case for Astra Coffee’s roasting technique. Our Elegant Italian Roast® can be compared to a medium-light roast, but with particular attention to many details, using a combination of time and heat to roast every bean evenly.

• Too much roasting time will lead to a bitter cup and a “boiled” taste.

• Too much heat will lead to burned, very bitter and ashy cup.

• Too short roasting time will lead to intense sour and astringent cup.

• Too low heat will lead to an unpleasant chlorophyll aroma in the cup.

With the Elegant Italian Roast® method, we balance these elements to make sure the sugars that are naturally contained in the beans are preserved and the coffee's full potential is expressed in the cup, filling your senses with elegant aromas.
